Delhi (NCR) cafés that take their coffees seriously!

At DSSC, we swear by a good steamin’ cuppa coffee. And let’s be honest, drinking coffee is the new “wanna meet up for beer” these days, even for decaf drinkers. It’s not surprising then that so many hip cafés have sprouted across Delhi-NCR, spreading the love of good coffee and also the bitter, dark and nutty aroma that follows.

It’s safe to say, and we don’t think there will be much disagreement on this front, that this café in Saijdulabad has established itself as one of the best coffee parlours in the city in a very short span of time. A couple (literally) of coffee lovers run the place and they select their beans from coffee farms in the country that are carefully brewed by professional roasters.

DSSC Top Tip: They also have a flat white on their menu which very few cafes in the city serve this good.

Not many have heard of this café tucked away in peaceful Uday Park and probably because there aren’t a lot of eateries and cafés in the area. Their beans are sourced from a roaster in Melbourne, who source theirs from Ethiopia and El Salvador, so rest assured you will get a good brew.

DSSC Top Tip: This is a great spot if you’re looking for some serenity to get your thinking caps on.

Where: Shop No. 4, Local Shopping, Office Complex Building, Uday Park

di ghentCafé Di Ghent

This café has steadily established itself as one of the best places for a Sunday brunch. It definitely serves up a good cup of coffee as well as waffles and cakes and delicious they are! They have to be, don’t they, after all Belgium is where the best chocolate, coffee and waffles are from.

DSSC Top Tip: We recommend this as the perfect place for a Sunday brunch or for one of those breakfast for dinner kinda days.

Where: Level 2, Cross Point Mall, DLF Phase IV, Gurgaon

This e-café is the brainchild of two former law students who needed cups after cups of coffee but couldn’t be arsed with brewing seven cups a day. And boom! Now they’re making cold brew coffee for a living. You can order their slowly brewed cuppa coffee, which is brewed for a good 21 hours, by contacting them through their website.

DSSC Top Tip: Add a wee bit of milk to your cold brew and viola, you got yourself an iced latte!

Managed by the National Crafts Museum, we like to think that this place is a modern take on a quaint Delhi café, reminiscent of old and simpler times. They serve coffees from South India and have a long menu of dishes from different parts of the country that are served with a fresh take.

DSSC Top Tip: They have a large outdoor seating area, perfect for one of those days the weather is on our side and we can philosophise about life over a good cuppa filter coffee.

Two things we love are reading and drinking…coffee, and that’s exactly why we love this place because we can do both under one roof. The menu is top notch and the prices are unbelievably reasonable for the variety and quality. You can also pick up a book from oxford store, which is an extension of the cafés and read while you drink.

DSSC Top Tip: This place is perfect if you want to spend some time with yourself without seeming like a loner in a public place. That’s why they say books are your best friend!

Where: N-81, Barakhamba Road, Connaught Place

The smell of their delicious and fresh bakes from a mile is what first lured us into Sibang Bakery where we were pleasantly surprised.. They have an eclectic range of baked goodies from a simple vanilla loafs to croissants to pies, and a simple menu of quality coffee to pair them with. Perfect place for a quick cup or catch up with mates.

DSSC Top Tip: We recommend this place if you want a quick catch up with your mate over excellent coffee and baked goods.

Where: South Point Mall, Golf Course Road, Gurgaon

carnatic cafeCarnatic Café

Filter coffee was our good ol’ morning savior long before all these cool kid places popped up around town. Rain or shine, night or day, sun or moon, a South Indian filter coffee always perks us up in good shape. Head over to Carnatic café for this age old brew, which is especially perfect after a satisfying meal to sweeten the taste buds.

DSSC Top Tip: Order the Malleshwaram 18th Cross before your brew. Thank us later.

Where: M-21, Market, Greater Kailash II
